I always ride the subway and I always see people going through the train cars…seeing people asking for money, sharing a story, selling candy bars not for their basketball team but for themselves, DVD DVD?, and the occasional… “It’s my obligation to save everyone” preacher.
It’s nice and all, but with New York having a church every ten blocks, I don’t think the subway is a good place to preach. I believe that if you enforce your religion on anyone, they are more likely to resist. Leave it be, and leave it to curiosity and the willingness of a human being to seek the truth.
Reading the Bible, one can see that Jesus always preached and taught the public. But can you ask yourself, “Where did he preach?“ He preached through living and by example. When he was preaching, people followed him and he did not chase anyone to preach. He will go to a hill, maybe under a tree, and start his teachings. The crowd will follow - either divine will, curiosity, or faith. Have you ever read in the bible about Jesus’ advertisements or aggressive marketing? I sure haven’t.
I just saw a nice picture of Jesus standing by the door fo the house. The door does not have a door knob. He is always standing by our door, but we have to be the one to let Him in. It’s an awesome symbolism for this post.
Nonetheless this is just my opinion. ![]()
